Why I rebranded to Foster Slow Living

Hi, I’m Scout Foster, a maiden Baker still trying to get used to my new last name. I married my high school sweetheart in October 2023 in a small east Texas town. Our marriage was celebrated with a mechanical bull, blow-up cow costumes, and 120 of our closest friends and family from all over the United States and Canada.

We are from Central Florida but after attending college in West Texas (wreck ’em, Tech!), we settled in the piney woods of east Texas to raise Brahman (I usually call them brammers) and rodeo cattle with my uncle, raise chickens, and garden. I’m not one who lacks trust in our grocers, I just appreciate our labor of love. I value the art of growing your food, homemade baked goods, and slowing down modern processes for top-notch quality. I’m grateful we can live a little slower in our corner of the world.

To me, Foster Slow Living means to live intentionally. To cultivate a lifestyle that prioritizes moments, stepping back from the fast-paced, hectic nature of modern life and embracing a more mindful and deliberate approach to living.

A few things I love:
1. Hot coffee in the morning on the porch or in a rocker enjoying every note of hot coffee and the birds that bounce around the pecan trees.
2. Snail Mail. I love sending thank you cards, birthday cards, and get well soon cards, but Christmas cards are at the top of my favorites list.
3. Hospitality. Investing time and energy into relationships with friends, family, and community around good food and drinks.
