This year, I planted:
Vegetables:
Squash
Cucumbers
Broccoli
Cabbage
Flowers:
Zinnias
Cosmos
Perennial Wildflower Mix
Fruit:
Blackberry and blueberry plants are planted at the farm so we get to enjoy those as we see them ready for picking.
My strawberry plants from last year are thriving! I even ordered 40 more roots to plant on the side of our chicken coop. Once the coop part is finished, we’re adding raised beds to the side. This doubles as garden space and an extra layer of protection for the girls from any predator that tries to dig its way in.
I also planted pea plants earlier this year but I didn’t have the room or trellis for this so I ended up letting those go. Truthfully, I wanted the space for vegetables we enjoy over peas.
I’ve always been more successful at a fall garden, so we’ll see how these do! Luckily, we’ve had an abundance of rainfall this year and I’ve figured out a way to protect my fruits from most critters.
